EIGHT TAKES ON REALISM August 21–September 26, 2026 Opening Reception Friday, August 21, 5–8 pm SUSAN POWELL FINE ART Madison, CTEight Takes on Realism&nbsp;brings together eight nationally recognized painters whose work celebrates the enduring tradition of realism while revealing the individuality of each artist’s vision. Never before exhibited together as a group, they bring exceptional technical skill, unique points of view, and a remarkable range of approaches to contemporary realism. The exhibition includes luminous coastal landscapes and nocturnes, marsh landscapes that reveal the quiet beauty of nature, masterfully detailed snow scenes, meticulously rendered still lifes, and street scenes that convey the energy of urban life. Through eight different perspectives, these paintings explore light, reflection, atmosphere, color, mood, and place.Join us on Friday, August 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm for the opening reception. Participating artists are Del-Bourree Bach, Paul Beebe, Zufar Bikbov, Vincent Giarrano, Marc R. Hanson, Jonathan McPhillips, Cora Ogden, and Deborah Quinn-Munson. MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL VOCAL CHORDS (MHVC) seeks altos, tenors and basses to join them in preparing for their 36 annual holiday concert to be held on Sunday, December 6, 2026.&nbsp; The event will be held at Portland High School, 95 High St., Portland at 2pm.&nbsp; We are searching for enthusiastic men and women (over age 18) to expand our Vocal Chord family.&nbsp; No auditions or prior experience required and you do not have to be an employee of Middlesex Health.&nbsp; Deadline to join is Tuesday, September 8th.&nbsp; This is a community-focused group that has delighted audiences for 36 years with energetic concerts featuring a wide range of musical styles.&nbsp; Our 80 current members hail from Central and Southern CT and represent diverse backgrounds.&nbsp; What unites us is our shared love for singing.
