The Madison Economic Development Commission will host the two candidates for First Selectman at its regular meeting on Thursday, September 10. The two candidates, Tom Banisch (R) and Joan Walker (D) were invited by the commission to discuss several upcoming projects and decisions that will have economic impact on the town. The meeting will be held at 7:30pm at Town Campus in meeting room A.
“Unlike a debate or forum, this will be an opportunity for the two candidates to share their views and opinions on several important projects that the EDC has been following,” said Ryan Duques, chair of EDC.

The topics that the candidates have been asked to provide their thoughts on are:
· Madison Center Project Phase 1 and Phase 2
· Future of Academy School
· Renovation and Expansion of the Scranton Library as it relates to Economic Development
· School facilities changes
· What will you do as First Selectman to add vibrancy to our commercial district to attract and keep retailers and businesses in town
The commission has asked each candidate to keep their remarks to three minutes per topic. Commissioners will have an opportunity to ask additional questions.
Candidates for other offices as well as the general public are invited to attend this meeting and make comments and statements during the meetings regular “public comment” time.
