Coronavirus Madison: Sisters Annual Benefit Concert Now Virtual

Hand junior Aimee Chang and sister Claire perform an annual concert to raise money for the food pantry, which needs help more than ever.

MADISON, CT — Student Aimee Chang is a co-founder of Sorelle Allegre, a violin-piano duo created to raise money and brighten lives through classical music. She and her sister Claire perform an annual spring benefit concert for the Madison Food Pantry.

COVID-19 has made that concert a virtual one.

And the need remains. Chang created a GoFundMe campaign to help raise the funds so desperately needed for the pantry.

"COVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis that is directly impacting our neighbors and the Madison Food Pantry," she wrote on GoFundMe. "To keep their workers and volunteers safe, the food pantry is practicing social distancing. Currently, the food pantry is supplying gift cards to local grocery stores, which is more costly than operating a food pantry and buying supplies in bulk."

Chang noted that "a growing number of Madison residents rely on the food pantry for their emails. We must do our part to help our neighbors through the food pantry. Please spread the word and donate if you are able to. Any donation will make a positive impact. Thank you for your support and contribution; this means a lot to me!"

Her goal is $1,000. To date, the effort has raised $835.
