MADISON, CT — Madison resident April Allen had an idea. And it's a beautiful one. She reached out to Eileen Banisch of the Madison Chamber of Commerce. How about red ribbons tied around trees for first responders and health care workers?

Banisch contacted Madison Flower Shop owner Donna Santoro who provided the red ribbon. The idea took off.

There was lots of red ribbon in boxes on the Chamber front porch at 12 School St. But soon enough, the ribbon was running out.

"Let's show support for our healthcare workers and emergency personnel people who are on the front lines! Tie red ribbons on trees to remind them that we appreciate what they do. We started downtown today...can you add to this initiative?"
