Country School Hosts Astronomy Night

The event is open to the public and features the Astronomical Society of New Haven, Wesleyan University, and RJ Julia Booksellers.

The Country School will be hosting a night of stargazing on March 2 from 6-8 p.m. (Rain date March 23 from 7-9 p.m.) with special visitors from The Astronomical Society of New Haven, Wesleyan University, RJ Julia Booksellers, and Taco Pacifico. Members of the greater community are welcome to attend.

The Astronomical Society of New Haven will bring telescopes and a scaled model of the solar system for exploring objects in the late winter sky. Students from Wesleyan University will be on Country School’s campus with their Digitalis Portable Planetarium. Wesleyan students will present an accompanying program that explores the night sky sure to dazzle budding astronomers. Local bookseller RJ Julia will be on campus as well with a selection of astronomy books for all ages available for purchase. Between viewing and visits to the planetarium, guests can purchase dinner from Taco Pacifico. A percentage of the proceeds will benefit The Country School’s Signature STEAM Program.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs as well as binoculars and/or telescopes to use when not looking through ASNH’s telescopes.
