DHHS Girls Swim Team Post Strong Showing Against Undefeated Amity
Despite loss, many swimmers qualify for Class M state championship; Team captain Renata Diotalevi wins yet another 1 Meter Diving event with a towering score of 201.15.

Late in the evening on Thursday, October 13th, the Daniel Hand Girls' Swim team met up against the Amity Spartans in the Orange Community Center pool. Despite the loss, Amity 98, Hand 79, the Tigers defeated their rivals in several of the hosted events and many of the swimmers times qualified for the Class M State Championship.
Team captain Renata Diotalevi won yet another 1 Meter Diving event with a towering score of 201.15. Freshman Alexandra Wagner snatched first place in the 100 Backstroke event with an impressive score of 1:10.83. Wagner then went on to be part of the winning 400 Freestyle Relay team that included Grace Hesse, Caroline Wolek and Marissa Rossi. The foursome overtook the Spartans with a celebrated score of 4:00.09. Senior Deirdre Haren made quite a splash in the 100 breaststroke event, winning with a state championship qualifying score of 1:14.64.
Anne Kenndy's time of 1:07.95 and Leah Connolly's time of 1:08:78 in the 100 Butterfly automatically qualified both swimmers for the state championships as did Grace Hesses time of 59.53 in the 100 Freestyle and Caroline Wolek's time of 5:31.75 in the 500 Freestyle race.
