Fatal Motorcycle Crash Investigated In Madison: CT State Police

The crash, which temporarily shut down a portion of I-95 southbound, occurred Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

MADISON, CT — A 28-year-old Providence, Rhode Island man was killed Tuesday when the motorcycle he was operating collided with another vehicle southbound on I-95 in Madison, according to Connecticut State Police.

Joseph R. Baez was riding a 2024 BMW M10 motorcycle at about 1:45 p.m., just south of exit 60, when the bike crashed into the rear of a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, driven by a 74-year-old Guilford woman.

The two vehicles were in the left lane, and the motorcycle was traveling "at a high rate of speed," according to Connecticut State Police.

"[Baez] was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries," the state police report reads. "The collision remains under investigation."

The crash temporarily shut down a portion of I-95 in Madison for a few hours while state police investigated.
