DHHS Girls Swim Team Scores Third Win Of The Season
The Hand team dominated the meet, winning first place in each of the first nine events and entering exhibition mode for the last three events.

The Daniel Hand Girls' Swim Team scored their third win of the season against the home team at the September 26th meet at Mark T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford. The Hand team dominated the meet, winning first place in each of the first nine events and entering exhibition mode for the last three events.
It was a great night for the Hand team, and especially for a few of the girls who each took first place in multiple events. Sophomore Caroline Wolek won three events - two of them back-to-back. After scoring a solo win in the 200 yard Freestyle event with an impressive time of 2.12.17, Ms. Wolek followed that up with yet another win in the grueling 500 yard Freestyle event, finishing with a 5.48.89 time, before turning around and winning the next event as part of the 200 yard Free Relay team.
Senior Deirdre Haren also had a good night, scoring three wins - the first as part of the 200 yard Medley Relay team with Leah Connolly, Courtney LeBlanc, Lynsey Kirby with a 2.07.27 time. She followed up that victory by taking first place in the 100 yard Freestyle event with an impressive 59.53 time - the only girl on either team to come in under a minute in that event. In the 200 yard Free Relay, Deirdre Haren scored her third win of the night as part of the winning team, along with Marissa Rossi, and sophomores Grace Hesse and Caroline Wolek.

As well as her victory as part of the 200 yard Free Relay team, Marissa Rossi took first place in two other events. She won the 200 yard Individual Medley event with a 2.22.64 time, and won the 100 yard Butterfly event with a time of 1.06.92.
Sophomore Gabby Diotalevi won the 50 yard Freestyle event with a 28.39 time, and was followed in the next event by her sister Renata Diotalevi, who easily won the 1 meter diving event with a 207.65 score.

While in exhibition mode, freshman Alex Wagner finished the 100 yard Backstroke event with an impressive time of 1.10.41, and followed up with a strong showing as part of the 400 yard Free Relay team, which completed that event in 3.59.23. Another notable performance was Catherine Donovan's 1.18.16 time in the 100 yard Breast Stroke,
The meet at Sheehan High ended with a 100 - 75 win for the Tigers bringing the DHHS Girls' Swim Team season record to 3-2.
