Durham Artist Terry Oakes Bourret Wins Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society Gold Medal
Terry Oakes Bourret's 20x24 oil painting "Sidewalk," painted on location in Durham, is the Gold Medal winner.

The 20x24 oil painting “Sidewalk” by Durham artist and art teacher Terry Oakes Bourret received the Gold Medal at the current Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society Exhibition. Painted on location, the scene is the sidewalk area on the west side of Main Street looking south toward Brenda’s Main Street Feed Bourret found the broken sidewalk an interesting subject matter in its contrast to the “gentrification” of the sidewalks across the road.
She was accompanied by Henry, her rescue and registered Pet Therapy Dog, who is always ready to tag along and protect her back.
A second painting, “Our Garden: Summer” is also in the exhibit, which continues through January 31 at Hartford Fine Art & Framing, 80 Pitkin Street, East Hartford. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30 to 5:30 and Saturday, 9:30 to 3:00.
