Earth, Our Common Home: An Exploration through Art of "The Wild and Sacred"
Workshop, religous
Saturday, June 11, 2016 9:30 am – 3:30 pm $50
Join us for a prayerful, multi-media exploration of our place in the web of life through the lens of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment. The day’s presentations weave the art of Marion Honors, CSJ, and the photography of Clare Pelkey, CSJ, with music and poetry, story and science, to engage the heart and inspire our passion for transformation—while celebrating our relationship with all that lives in “Our Common Home.”
Sr. Marion’s exhibit, “The Wild and the Sacred,” will be on display in Mercy By The Sea’s Mary C. Daly, RSM, art gallery (May 15 – July 14, 2016). Deeply rooted in the New Cosmology—the beautiful story of our evolutionary universe as presented by Thomas Berry, Miriam McGillis, OP, and others—the art collection includes relief and intaglio prints, monotypes with water based inks and painted embossments., The day program will include presentation and conversation, and individual quiet time to engage with the art and the late-spring beauty of the surrounding natural setting. The fee includes the program and lunch.
