First Look At Draft For Madison's Proposed New Elementary School
The draft plan for construction of a new Jeffrey Elementary School was presented to the Madison Board of Education this week.

MADISON, CT — The draft plan for construction of a new J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School was presented to the Madison Board of Education this week. The 33-page plan calls for a near 79,000 square foot building for 601 students which includes 45 pre-K children currently at the Town Campus Learning Center.
Set to go to referendum in February 2022, the new pre-K to fifth grade school construction is just one part of the BOE-approved plan to close the existing Jeffrey school, Ryerson Elementary and the Town Campus Learning Center where all those students would attend the planned $60 million new Jeffrey Elementary School construction project, as well as the conversion of Brown Intermediate School into a K-5 school and renovating Polson Middle School.
According to the draft plan, the school, which would be constructed on a as yet not purchased Mungertown Road site, would be divided into three classifications: early childhood, pre-K and full-day kindergarten; early elementary grades one and two; and intermediate grades three, four and five. Features of the new school would include all instructional areas, as well as STEAM, art, music, world languages and physical education and an “extensive and varied” play area for early and intermediate levels.
