MADISON, CT — The Madison Police Department hired Alexandra "Alex" Blackwell in 2009. The Brewster, NY native grew up in a family of firefighters and police officers, and told The Day in 2011 she "always wanted to be a cop."

After serving Madison as a police officer, she joined the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police.

Blackwell was partnered with K9 Luna. The team, who will work in the Marine district, will attend their initial training this spring, along with other K9 teams who are currently being selected, EnCon wrote.

The plan is to update the EnCon officer and their K9 partner's progress in training. EnCon hopes folks will follow along.
