GoodStreets announces National Small Business Week Activities: May 4 - May 8, 2015
Celebrate local biz w/ the non profit community and attend a Small Business Roundtable w/Ted Kennedy, Jr, Sean Scanlon and Vince Candelora

GoodStreets, an online community of consumers and local business owners, announces it’s 2nd annual National Small Business Week celebration from Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8, 2015. Small Business Week is an annual recognition by the Small Business Association (SBA) of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others from across the nation. The week will be marked by two events: a celebration of local businesses by the non profit community and a Small Business Roundtable discussion with State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr and State Representatives Sean Scanlon and Vincent Candelora.
Local businesses support non profits and community organizations 250% more than big box, chain and ecommerce businesses. To recognize the support of local business owners in the area, more than 25 CT Shoreline nonprofits will reach out to their constituents, staff and board members, through a social media campaign designed by GoodStreets to ask them to support the businesses who support them throughout the year. During the week of May 4 – 8, they are being asked to say thank you by making a special effort to eat at local restaurants, shop at local businesses, make appointments for haircuts and massages, sign up at a local gym, and set up meetings to tackle legal questions or insurance policies.
“These businesses are organization sponsors, they donate gift cards, items and services for raffles and auctions, and help promote events by hanging posters and selling tickets,” said Leslie Krumholz, CEO of GoodStreets and co-founder of two nonprofit organizations. “Small Business Week presents a unique opportunity for all the supporters of these organizations to actually give back to the businesses by purchasing their goods and services”.
