'Great News' Announced By Madison's Superintendent Of Schools
The news pertains to the district's reconfiguration plan.

Written by Madison Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice,
I would like to provide the school community with an update regarding the district reconfiguration plan. As Brown School transitions from a middle school to an intermediate model for the 2019-2020 school year, a commitment has been made to modify the exterior Brown campus so that a playground can be accommodated to serve the incoming 4th and 5th grade students.
The initial plan called for new swings and site clearing for the upcoming school year, with a new playground structure, including a poured in place surface, for the 2020-2021 school year. Some recent unforeseen developments have accelerated that timeline. This is great news for the students and staff that will begin the school year at Brown in September.

The school district has been assured that if the upcoming town budget, which includes funding for the playground project, is approved in the budget referendum on May 14th, work can begin immediately after the school year ends and the playground structure, including the poured in place surface, will be installed for the start of the school year, one year ahead of schedule.
In short, the vendor is on a state approved list of providers, which accelerates the timeline. In addition, given that this vendor has provided services for the school district in the past, an approved budget is sufficient to begin the process of procuring materials and advancing the project so that it can be installed for the start of the 2019-2020 school year, or shortly thereafter.
