"The Hagar School: Education for a Shared Society for Jews and Arabs in Israel"

In Israel, the Hagar School teaches both Arab and Jewish children and presents a model for a shared, pluralistic society.

Tuesday May 17, 7 pm – Talk and discussion, “The Hagar School: Education for a Shared Society for Jews and Arabs in Israel,” at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society, 297 Boston Post Rd, Madison CT.

Afnan Abu Taha and Orit Freiberg, an Arab and a Jewish woman, present material about Hagar, the coexistence school they help to run in the Negev in southern Israel. As parents and administrators, they show how this half Arab, half Jewish school offers a model for integrated living based on principles of multiculturalism, bilingualism, equality and sustainability. Their experience relates to all societies facing the challenges of pluralism, including the United States.
