MADISON, CT — With five positive coronavirus cases now reported at Jeffrey Elementary School, administrators decided to postpone a school Veterans Day assembly and a Daniel Hand High School Jazz Band performance for the first and second grade.

Principal Rebecca Frost posted a message to families on the school website.

"I have made the very difficult decision to postpone this Friday's Veterans Day Assembly and the Grade 1 and 2 DHHS Jazz Band performance. With the increase in positive cases in our building, I feel it is best to limit any large gatherings that are not essential to our day.

I am very disappointed that we are not able to afford our students these opportunities at this time. Hopefully soon!

In lieu of the Veterans Day ceremony, we will have some 3rd grade students read their reflections and play a recorder song on the morning announcements tomorrow. We are also inviting the Veterans to stop by tomorrow afternoon to pick up a card (and a cookie!) and take a picture with a large sign we will have out front."
