Just In: Madison Looks To Hire An Environmental Planner
The environmental planner is responsible for administering/enforcing Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Regulations. Pay range is $60K-$84K.

MADISON, CT —The town announced Wednesday that it's hiring an environmental planner. The salary range is $60,499.19 - $84,304.58 annually.
The environmental planner would be responsible for administering and enforcing Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Regulations. And, as directed by the Town Planner, implement the environmental, conservation, and land acquisition planning goals for Madison.
To be eligible, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a closely related field, and five years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience. The person would also need to complete the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Municipal Inland Wetlands Agency Comprehensive Training Program withing three months of being hired.

Applications for the position, located in Madison's Land Use Office, must be received in the town's Human Resources Department no later than 4 p.m. Friday, April 8.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the environmental planner is responsible for technical reviews of land use applications as they relate to natural resources. They also prepare reports to the town's various land use agencies.
Other duties include responding to and investigating complaints and violations related to inland wetlands. The position acts as the primary staff to the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Agency and the Conservation Commission and attends both IWWA and CC meetings.
