Long-Time Daniel Hand Football Coach to Resign at the End of the Year: Report
The head football coach has won seven state championships over the course of his career.

MADISON, CT — Long-time Daniel Hand football coach Steve Filippone, who has won seven state championships, is retiring at the end of the season, reports Mike Pucci for Gametime CT.
He's been the football coach since 1989 at Hand and has amassed a career record of 222-78-5 and is 10th all time in victories.
Filippone, 60, told Pucci that he's had an amazing career at Hand and enjoyed the support from the school community.

He said he almost stepped aside in 2005 after winning a third straight championship but he continued for another 11 years.
He said he is looking forward to spending more time with his family, and that he would consider coaching at a local college or prep school in the future where there would be less demands on his time.
