The Lutheran Church of Madison is collecting Used Clothing for the needy

WORKING WITH ST. PAULY TEXTILE, THE LUTHERAN CHURCH OF MADISON CONTINUES TO COLLECT USED CLOTHING FOR THE NEEDY. St. Pauly Textile is a non-profit group that collects used clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets sheets, pillowcases, drapes and stuffed toys. All the clothing items collected are shipped whole-garment and intact, and will be worn or used by someone, somewhere.

St. Pauly was founded 17 years ago in Rochester, NY and is a family-owned and family-run business. Their mission is to collect used clothing to share with people in need, both here in the United States and all over the world. St. Pauly has about 700 clothing Drop-Off Sheds throughout upstate New York, eastern Pennsylvania, western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Last year, they were able to collect almost 60 million items of clothing that reached an estimated 7 million people. According to a recent study by the EPA, about 85% of clothing that people don’t want anymore ends up in a landfill.

The items that we collect are shipped to various organizations, here in the US and around the world. Many Developing World Countries are in great need of clothing items. The specific locations are constantly changing depending on what is happening in the world at any one time. To date, clothing has been sent to 44 different countries around the world. St. Pauly works with world relief agencies, human care organizations and the United Nations.
