Madison Conservation Commission To Review Land Use Priorities, Zoning Update

MADISON, CT — The Madison Conservation Commission is scheduled to review updates on the town's draft conservation priorities and land use philosophy, as well as ongoing revisions to Madison's zoning regulations, during its meeting on Wednesday.

The commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, in Room A at the Town Campus. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, allowing residents to attend in person or participate remotely by webinar or telephone. Click here to view the agenda.

Among the agenda's old business items, commissioners are expected to receive an update on a draft outlining the commission's broad conservation priorities and land use philosophy. They also are scheduled to hear an update on revisions to Madison's zoning regulations and the commission's input into that process.

The commission also is expected to review the status of a request for qualifications related to the town's Natural Resources Inventory, receive an update on summer intern projects, and discuss a planned joint meeting with other town commissions.

Additional updates include reports on conservation fact sheets prepared by commission members and a debrief of the commission's Strawberry Moon Festival booth and Fourth of July parade float, including possible improvements for future events.

Under new business, the commission is scheduled to discuss an article titled "Cities can't afford to keep treating trees like decoration," circulated by Chair Heather Crawford, and may review the possibility of a future presentation on the topic.
