Madison Coronavirus Update: 3rd Death Reported, 45 Active Cases

Madison First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons shared an update on the coronavirus and the latest news in town.

MADISON, CT — A third resident had died from the new coronavirus, First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons has reported. The latest victim was a 95-year-old resident of a local nursing home.

As of Wednesday there are 45 Madison residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. One of the newest patients was recently transferred to a local nursing home from the hospital and is being held in isolation and "treated with the appropriate protocols required by the Department of Public Health," Lyons said. "Our hearts are with these victims and their families - we ask everyone to continue to keep all those affected by this horrible virus in your prayers."

The majority of the Town's positive cases are doing better and recovering at home, Lyons posted on the Town website.

Lyons is encouraging people who are looking to help others to consider donating different types of pet food in addition to traditional food donations. These items can be dropped off along with other non-perishables at the Senior Center drop-off location on weekdays.

"As we continue to enjoy the arrival of spring, let’s be grateful for our community’s generosity and remain vigilant in our efforts to flatten the curve. Let’s continue to stay safe, healthy, and at home at Madison," Lyons said.
