Madison Newcomers Club Touch-A-Truck Event At Surf Club Draws Hundreds, Makes Thousands (With Video And Photo Gallery)
Event Raises Money For Women & Family Life Center In Guilford And Newcomers Club Scholarship At Daniel Hand High School; Police Car, With Its Screaming Siren, Is Huge Hit With The Kids
Hundreds of people showed up at the Surf Club Saturday to participate in the Madison Newcomers Club Touch-A-Truck event.
With more than 25 different vehicles, including police cars, flatbeds, and even a small train that circled the parking lot, the kids had a blast. In the case of the police car, this was literally true. With the help of Madison Police Officer Kimberly Lauria, the kids got to operate the ear-piercing siren and the public address system on the car, with at least one youngster taking the opportunity to announce, "Hi, momma."
Jessica Lavigne and Shannon Leckinger of the Madison Newcomers Club said more than 400 people attended the event, which made thousands of dollars for the designated charities. Proceeds from the event will go to support the Women & Family Life Center in Guilford and the Madison Newcomers Club Daniel Hand High School scholarship fund.
