Madison Public Schools' Names New Director Of Athletics

After a 3-month search, former Plainville schools athletics director Christopher Farrell was named to the post by the Board of Ed Tuesday.

MADISON, CT — The Madison Board of Education appointed Christopher Farrell as the new Director of Athletics Tuesday. The appointment follows a "rigorous" three-month search, school officials said.

Farrell, Plainville Public Schools athletics director since 2016, he coached numerous athletic teams, served as an interim assistant principal on two occasions and spent more than a decade as a high school physical education and health teacher, per Madison schools.

Farrell said he's "beyond thrilled to become part of such a special community ."

On July 1, Farrell will officially take over the role of Director of Athletics.

“I look forward to raising the bar and building off the great pride for athletics that has been established in Madison. I plan to do this by mixing innovation with the already developed, rich tradition," Farrell was quoted as saying. "Everything we do will be centered around supporting our student athletes and coaches to create a great experience for everyone who loves the Tigers. I can't express how honored I am with this opportunity and look forward to leading Madison athletics to new heights.”

The candidate selection process included stakeholders from various aspects of the Madison Public Schools community including coaches, teachers, parents, Board of Education members, and members of the administration. As a district with a long history of athletic achievement, the candidate selection committee looked for individuals with a proven track record of success in all aspects of K-12 athletics, per a news release from the district.
