Madison Resident Kristen Frost Inducted Into Northeast-10 Conference Hall Of Fame

Frost, a Daniel Hand High School graduate, joins the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

MADISON, CT — Madison resident Kristen Frost, a former Southern Connecticut State University swimmer and four-time NCAA Division II national champion, has been inducted into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame as a member of its Class of 2026, the university announced.

Frost, a Daniel Hand High School graduate, became the third swimmer from Southern Connecticut State University to be inducted into the hall of fame, joining Amanda Thomas, who was inducted in 2019, and Ray Cswerko, who was inducted in 2022.

During the 2008 NCAA Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, Frost won four individual national titles in four consecutive days and set three NCAA Division II records.

She first broke her own NCAA Division II record in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 9:50.49 and lowering her previous mark by more than three seconds. The following day, she won the 200-yard freestyle title.

Frost then set additional NCAA Division II records in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle. On March 14, 2008, she won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:45.69, breaking the previous record by less than two seconds. On March 15, she finished the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:17.66, surpassing the previous national record by nearly 11 seconds. The performance remains the NCAA Division II record.

Her 2008 national championship performance was previously recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference as one of its Iconic Moments during the conference's 40th anniversary celebration.

Frost remains the only female student-athlete in Southern Connecticut State University and Northeast-10 Conference history to win four individual national championships in the same season. She was also the 12th woman in NCAA Division II history to accomplish the feat.

Following the 2007-08 season, Frost was named NCAA Division II Collegiate Woman Swimmer of the Year and earned Most Outstanding Swimmer honors at the NCAA Championships.

She was also named the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Swimmer of the Year and received Most Outstanding Performer honors at the conference championships after winning the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.

Frost earned All-American honors in the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle, 1,650-yard freestyle and 800-yard freestyle relay.

She also received the Doc McInerney Female Athlete of the Year award from the Connecticut Sports Writers' Alliance.
