Madison Seeking New Fire Rescue Boat

The town is seeking a Homeland Security grant, which would also require the town to contribute some funds too.

Madison, CT - The Board of Selectmen has approved a grant application request from Madison Hose #1 for the purchase of a fire rescue boat.

If Madison Hose #1 received the grant, the town would have to contribute $62,000 toward the purchase, according to Board of Selectmen meeting minutes.

First Selectman Thomas Banisch stated that the grant is coming from Homeland Security and as such there are some features which are confidential.

The match on the grant is $62,500 and these funds are in the CIP plan for next year.

Selectman Hale, according to meeting minutes, stated that the boat aids in water rescue missions as well as fire incidents on the water.

Police Chief Drumm stated that this piece of equipment is self-propelled and has new technology that will help with water rescue missions.
