Madison Selectmen To Declare State Of Emergency Saturday

Early Saturday, a Local Civil Preparedness Emergency will be declared as Madison is under a hurricane warning. The order can last a week.

MADISON, CT — The Board of Selectmen will meet Saturday at 8 a.m. via Zoom to vote on a resolution that would declare a state of emergency in the town given Tropical Storm Henri is now threatening Madison and other shoreline communities from New Haven to Westerly, RI with a hurricane warning from the National Weather Service.

A Local Civil Preparedness Emergency Declaration

The resolution reads, "The Board of Selectmen of the Town of Madison, in anticipation of the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Henri, hereby declares a Local Civil Preparedness Emergency, commencing at 12:00 a.m. on August 22, 2021 and lasting for as long thereafter as the Town is in a state of duress from damage resulting from the storm, but not longer than one week without further action by the Board. The First Selectwoman is authorized to take such action as she deems necessary in accordance with CGS Section 28-8a."
