Recently the State published the state aid numbers both for education and for general aid from Hartford to the various towns. Madison seems to have fallen off the priority list, as it’s general aid saw exactly a 0.0% increase and education funding saw a whopping two thousand dollars increase from $2,539,422 in 2013 to $2,541,301 in 2014. That’s a 0.1% increase. During this same period, the Consumer Price Index has increased 11 times more. This is a pattern that has been going on for years. Madison sends money up and gets a lot less back. Somehow our elected representatives need to send this message more effectively. Keith R. Ainsworth Madison, CT
