Madison Woman Advocates for Cancer Research

The woman began advocating because of her father, who is a cancer survivor.

A Madison woman joined hundred of cancer patients, survivors and volunteers urging Congress to make Cancer a national priority, Jack Kramer reports from The Source.

Holly Bower met with Connecticut’s members of Congress on Sept. 16 to discuss the need to support an increase in federal funding for cancer research and prevention.

Bower became involved with the American Cancer Society because of her father, who is a stage 3 melanoma survivor, the paper reports. She then interned with ACS and learned of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Bower grew up in Madison and attended Daniel Hand High School. According to the paper, she works on the Hospice and Acute Care unit as a nurse’s aide at Masonicare in Wallingford.
