Nature Journaling: The Wisdom of Trees

Nature Journaling , outdoor activity

Saturday, June 18, 2016, 9:30am - 3:30pm $50

Are you ready for a relaxed day of creative renewal and retreat? Come gather together in a beautiful sacred space and feel the refreshment of the summer sun and shore breezes. This nature journaling day, positioned at the edge of the summer solstice, will focus on trees. The symbolism of the World Tree/Tree Of Life will be explored. We will learn to listen to the wisdom of trees, learning the lessons of sinking our roots deep into the fertile earth, stretching our arms upward towards the heavens and turning our faces to the life giving light of the sun. Simple, easy pen and watercolor techniques will be taught. All levels are welcome, no prior art or nature journaling experience is necessary. With plenty of relaxing time to stroll the grounds and sit in the shade of magnificent trees, you will have ample opportunity to engage in joyful drawing, painting and writing. We gather rain or shine, with indoor activities should it be raining. Fee includes program and lunch.

Participants can bring their own materials (sketchbook with 140 lb. watercolor or mixed media paper in it, small set of watercolors, waterproof pen, like an Ultra-fine point Sharpie, a brush and small container for water). For those who do not have materials paints, brushes, and pens will be supplied. Small journals will be available for purchase at a small additional cost. For questions about supplies contact Jan at jan.blencowe@comcast.net .
