New Use Proposed for 'The Black House' in Madison: Report

“The Black House” at 875 Boston Post Road could have a new use as plans have been filed with the town to add three, 2 bedroom apartments at the site, the Shore Line Times reports.

A public hearing is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in Meeting Room A in the Town Campus.

The property sold for $1.1 million in 2014, and the developer has spent the past seven months renovating the former commercial property, which had previously been considered an eyesore, the Shore Line Times reports. Renovations are ongoing.

If the plans are approved, the work could be completed within a year’s time. There had been some talk that the property might be suitable for a restaurant use, but the owner instead choose a residential use.
