Obituary: Archibald McNeil Erskine, 93, of Madison
Born in Scotland, he and his family immigrated to the U.S. aboard the RMS Transylvania. Active in many clubs, he also coached little league.

Archibald McNeil Erskine of Madison passed away on October 29, 2021, at the age of 93, with his family by his side.
He was born on April 23, 1928, in Saltcoats, Scotland to Johnetta Mitchell Aitken and John Boag Erskine. They came to the United States aboard RMS Transylvania in 1929 and settled in Stamford, CT.
Archie graduated from Stamford High School and Bridgeport University. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Elise (Betty) Pratt. They were married for 40 loving years.
Archie enlisted in the Navy and served from 1948-1953 aboard the ships USS Gainard, the USS Ingersoll, and the USS Washington.
In 1963, Archie and Betty moved to Madison where they raised their two children, Joyce Grassl, and Scot Erskine. Archie continued to work at Southern New England Telephone company in New Haven.
Archie was predeceased by his wife Betty and grandson Corey Erskine.
In 1993, he married Faye Sherman D’lizarraga. They were married for 28 wonderful years.
Archie leaves his wife Faye, two children Joyce and Scot and his two extended children Danny and Bonnie and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Archie was a member of the Madison County Club, and the Worthington County Club in Bonita Springs, Florida. He also coached little league and was active in the Exchange Club, Elks of Westbrook, the Masons, and the American Legion.
Archie will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved his sense of humor.
Burial will be private and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
