Obituary: ​Audrey J. Eisenlohr, 92, Of Madison

She was a widely admired teacher in the Madison elementary schools, retiring in 1991 after 22 years.

Audrey J. Eisenlohr, 92, a 50-year resident of Guilford and more recently of Madison passed away on October 26th at Connecticut Hospice. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Douglas H. Eisenlohr, Sr., and son Douglas H. Eisenlohr, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily J. Eisenlohr (David Rackey), son David L. Eisenlohr (Sandra Eisenlohr), daughter-in-law Janis C. Eisenlohr, four grandchildren (Erin Eisenlohr Buck, Douglas H. Eisenlohr III, Christopher J. Rackey, and Peter C. Eisenlohr), and one great-grandchild (Elin Olivia Buck).

Born in Massillon, Ohio, in 1924, Audrey was valedictorian of her 1942 Norton High School class. She earned a B.S. in education from Southern Connecticut State College (now University) in 1969 followed by a M.S. in special education in 1974. She was a widely admired teacher in the Madison elementary schools, retiring in 1991 after 22 years.

She was a lifetime member of the Connecticut and National Education Associations. Audrey cherished her family, church and library, playing active roles in fundraising such as harvest fairs and used book sales and in the Friends of the Library and the church’s Alpha Club. Her bridge group were among her closest friends.A memorial service will be held at the Guilford First Congregational Church on Saturday, November 11th, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Alpha Club of the First Congregational Church, 110 Broad Street, Guilford, CT 06437, or to the Guilford Free Library, 67 Park Street, Guilford, CT 06437.
