Obituary: Beatrice Rathbone Dudley Fortin, 99, longtime of Madison

A founding member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, she enjoyed knitting, gardening, flower arranging and decorating, and adored her cats.

Beatrice Rathbone Dudley Fortin, longtime Madison resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. She was born on January 27, 1923 in Meriden, Connecticut to Alice Rathbone Dudley and Sherman Ives Dudley. She was predeceased by her husband, John Wellington Fortin in 1988.

She was the loving mother of Deirdra Wininger of Madison and Lynne Wilkinson of Plymouth, Massachusetts. She is also survived by grandchildren Robin Whaley of Deep River, Connecticut, Jonathon “Jay” Wininger of Bridgton, Maine, Sarah Alessandro of Quincy, Massachusetts, Kate Wilkinson of Wellfleet, Massachusetts and several great and great-great grandchildren.

Together with her late husband, Beatrice was a founding member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Madison and served the church in many capacities for many years. Before retirement Beatrice worked in the retail business, specializing in Interior Decoration. Her great love in life was her feline companions. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, flower arranging and home decorating.

Burial services will be held privately.
