Obituary: Doris Marie Mormile, 80, of Madison

Doris Marie Mormile, 80, of Madison, died October 29, 2021. She is survived by her husband of forty years Edmund Mormile, daughter Maria Regine, son-in-law Mark Regine, granddaughter Hailey Regine and many dear friends.

Doris was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Moskaluk and brother Michael.

Doris is an alumnus of Notre Dame Academy - Waterbury 1955, Waterbury Catholic High School 1959, Southern Connecticut State College (BS in elementary education) 1963, and Fairfield University (MA) 1969. After college Doris was very active in the New Haven Catholic Graduates Club serving as the social chairwoman and eventually the president. In 1969 Doris organized and led a six-week tour of six European countries.

Between 1963-1985 Doris was an elementary school teacher in the Milford CT school system. After taking a leave of absence for child-rearing Doris returned to teaching at Our Lady of Mercy School (Neck Rd Campus) Madison, CT and worked there until her retirement.

When she wasn't caring for her family, Doris took joy in cooking, sewing, and creating uplifting and festive decorations for every holiday. Whenever there was a need for a leader, Doris offered her abilities. She was dedicated and determined to achieve a successful outcome. As a member of St George parish for forty years, Doris served as a volunteer for many occasions and was recognized with an award for outstanding service.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave, North Haven.

As a parent and teacher, Doris dedicated her life to helping children. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Doris' name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
