Obituary: James E. Collins, of Madison

Jim enjoyed a good laugh, a good book, the love of any dog, and spending time with family and friends.

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, James E. Collins, longtime resident of Madison, passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family. Jim was born on January 12, 1941, in New York, NY, son of the late Dr. James T. and Anne (Durkin) Collins.

Loving husband of Charlene (Vescio) Collins of Madison; dear father of Jennifer Collins-Krott (Ed) of Clinton, CT and Heather Collins (Luke Farrell) of Bristol, RI; and proud grandfather to Gavin and Mason Krott of Clinton, CT and Beatrix and Penelope Farrell of Bristol, RI. Jim is survived by his twin brother John T. Collins (Judy) of Galloway, NJ; his sisters Eleanora Collins of Bronxville, NY and Nancy Rattazzi (Richard) of Ardsley, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.Before retiring, Jim worked in sales for Mallory Battery, Fuji Photo Film, Konica, and Honda.

He also served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-1965, most notably on the U.S.S. Wasp during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jim enjoyed a good laugh, a good book, the love of any dog, and spending time with family and friends. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George's Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford on Tuesday, November 20th at 11:30 am. Burial will be held privately.
