Obituary: Joseph Correira, III, of Madison

Once retired, he volunteered with the Good Dog Foundation where he and Newton devoted their days to visiting children in the NYU hospitals.

Thursday, August 29, 2019 Joseph Correira, III longtime resident of Madison, passed away after a brief illness. He was the husband of Patrice (Teta) Correira, the love of his life. Joe was born March 8, 1949 and raised in Old Mystic CT, son of the late Joseph Correira Jr and Emma (Thomson) Correira. He was the loving father of his four-legged son Newton and J Matthew, brother of Linda Ipsen, James Correira and Nancy Boardsen, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Joe was an executive in the insurance and banking industries.

Once retired, he volunteered with the Good Dog Foundation where he and Newton devoted their days to visiting children in the NYU hospitals. Joe also enjoyed golfing, gardening, cooking and swimming. An avid bowler, he was the President and multi-year champion of the Madison CT Lawn Bowling Club.

Friends are invited to graveside services on Saturday, September 7 at 10:30 am in West Cemetery, 72 Jannas Ln, Madison.
