Obituary: Margaret T. Clerkin, 78

Margaret T. Clerkin of San Diego, California peacefully passed away on February 24, 2018 while receiving hospice care at her Brother and sister in-law’s home in Madison, CT. She was the beloved sister of Thomas, and sister in-law of Barbara, and devoted aunt of Terence, Peter, and Kara, all of New York City. She was preceded in death by her brother John. She was married to Seymour J Filman of San Diego. Margaret was born in the Bronx, N.Y. to Ellen Clerkin (Nee McLoughlin) and Patrick Clerkin, both natives of Ireland, and was raised in Rockaway Beach, N.Y., attending Stella Maris High School.

She moved to Southern California to finish her undergraduate degree in nursing at San Diego State University and a master in nursing as a pediatric nurse practitioner at the University of California at Los Angeles. For many years, she then taught nursing at San Diego State University and then opened La Jolla Diamond. Margaret’s large extended Irish family and friends meant the world to her. She hosted her cousins from around the world always with zest and love and loved to travel throughout the world as well. She will be missed deeply by all she encountered along her life's journey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 3rd at 10am St. Theresa Parish in Briarcliff Manor NY with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven in nearby Hawthorne, N.Y.
