Marie, known lovingly as "Ma" by her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, knitting, doing puzzles, and traveling.

Marie Rita O’Day, 86, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Joseph F O’Day, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, July 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Marie, formerly of Madison, CT, was the daughter of the late John and Mary Addie.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Joan Martino and husband Frank, and Kathy O’Day and partner James Orosz; her four grandchildren, Bradley Coutermash, Abigail Hewitt and husband Tyler, Bryan Coutermash, and Brittany Coutermash; her nephews John and Eddie Vanvalkenburg, and niece Mary Vanvalkenburg. She is predeceased by her mother, father, and sister, Janet Vanvalkenburg.

Marie, known lovingly as “Ma” by her grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, knitting, doing puzzles, and traveling to new places. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. She loved making her friends and family laugh and was always smiling.
Friends may call Sunday, July 29, 2018 between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. at Spear Miller Funeral Home in Fairfield. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. meeting directly at West Cemetery in Madison, CT.
