Obituary: Peter C. Hubbard, 78, formerly of Madison

He lived in Madison for 35 years, enjoyed boating on the Sound, tennis, playing guitar and banjo and cheering for UCONN women's basketball.

Peter C. Hubbard, 78, of Wells, ME formerly of Madison, CT, died peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Peter lived in Madison, CT with his family for 35 years before retiring to Maine.

Peter was born on June 21, 1943 in Meriden, CT, the son of the late Clarence and Leta (Athorne) Hubbard. He was a 1961 graduate of Maloney High School in Meriden, CT and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Peter graduated magna cum laude from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH with a degree in Economics and attended University of Bridgeport for his master’s degree in Business Administration.

Peter Hubbard was employed with the former Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, Meriden, CT (now Midstate Medical Center) as an administrator. Peter ultimately followed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded Technique Printers, Inc. in Clinton, CT, which he co-owned for 25 years.

Peter could always be found in Long Island Sound on his boat, which was his passion. He especially loved his 42-foot Grand Banks trawler, named Vintage. Peter also enjoyed tennis, playing the guitar and banjo and watching UCONN women’s basketball.

Peter was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife, Dawn Hubbard; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Jenna Hubbard, and three granddaughters Anna, Nora and Mackenzie, all of Wells; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Bonnie Hubbard, of Meriden, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Harry and Barbara Hubbard of Wallingford, CT in 2020 and granddaughter Margaret in 2016.

According to Peter’s wishes, services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA. 01104, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
