Obituary: Ruth Richards Mozzillo, of Madison

She was employed by Southern New England Telephone and retired as Head Teller from Union Trust Bank in Madison.

Ruth Richards Mozzillo, beloved wife of Nicholas W. Mozzillo since 1964, passed away in Old Saybrook, CT on January 30, 2019 after a long illness.

Ruth was born May 29, 1938 in New Haven, CT to the late parents’ Charles and Olga Richards. After marrying Nick they resided in New Haven, CT before settling in Madison.

Ruth attended Hamden High School and graduated in 1956. She was employed by Southern New England Telephone and retired as Head Teller from Union Trust Bank in Madison.
Aside from her husband Nick, Ruth leaves behind two daughters; Cynthia L. Benzi of Clinton, CT and her husband John R. Benzi, Jr.; Christine A. Mozzillo of Madison, CT, and her beloved grandson, Nicholas W. Andrew of Boston, MA.

Ruth was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed time spent with family. Cooking was one of her passions and she enjoyed preparing big Sunday Dinners. Music and dancing was another great passion which she shared lovingly with her grandson, Nick. Ruth was very giving and was dedicated to taking care of her family.

She also enjoyed nature and loved feeding and watching the wild birds in her backyard. Murder mysteries and investigative stories were something she enjoyed most of her life.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Madison Ambulance Association and Madison Police Department for their response, care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Madison Ambulance Association in Ruth Mozzillo’s name would be greatly appreciated.

A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Margaret's Church, 24 Academy St., Madison, CT 06443
