Obituary: William (Bill) Ernest Cramer, 87, of Madison
A saltwater fisherman, he earned a Master's in engineering from Rensselaer, and worked for Pratt & Whitney, General Dynamics Electric Boat.

William (Bill) Ernest Cramer passed away while a resident at the Madison House in Madison CT on March 18, 2022 at the age of 87 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Bill was born Dec. 7, 1934, in New Haven, Ct. to Herman and Emily (Doebelle) Cramer. Bill was a lifelong resident of Upson Terrace in New Haven.

Bill attended grammar school in New Haven and The Hopkins School, also in New Haven.
Bill graduated with a BS degree in mechanical engineering from UConn in 1956. He also received his master’s in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After college, Bill worked for several companies including Pratt and Whitney Tool and General Dynamics Electric Boat. He later established his own engineering firm, with fellow UConn graduate Carl Lindell; Cramer & Lindell Engineers, in Niantic, CT.

Bill’s friends were numerous and from all phases of his life. All who knew Bill found him to be generous, kind, and enjoyed his company very much. Bill was passionate about salt water fishing and knew just where to find fish in the waters of Long Island Sound on his 40-foot boat, the Makaira.
A service to remember Bill will be held on Thursday, April 21st, 2022 from 5-7pm at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, CT. Burial will be private.
