Obituary: William J. Terrio, 66, of Madison
A DHHS grad, he pursued music, moved to NYC, toured with his band, and later joined the NYPD and held an annual benefit for kids in need.

William J. Terrio, 66, of Madison, passed away due to illness on September 24, 2021. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 25 years, Cheryl Terrio, and his cherished parents, William and Marybeth Terrio of Madison. William/Billy, was also blessed with a sister, Marybeth Mapes/Stephen and two brothers, Timothy Terrio and Peter Terrio/Dara. Billy's many nieces and nephews and cousins also held a special place in his heart.
Born in Norwalk, Billy moved with his family to Madison, at the age of 13. He attended Our Lady of Mercy and later graduated from Daniel Hand High School.

A Hand grad and drummer, he pursued music, touring with his band. He later joined the NYPD and held an annual police benefit for kids in need.
Billy was a drummer since a young age and moved to New York City in 1980 to pursue his love of music and tour with his band. The band played local venues in the Northeast and traveled on a tour in Puerto Rico.

Billy pursued his love of law and order, later joining the NYPD and working in various positions in the security field. He held an annual police benefit in New York City where he hosted top music performers to raise money for children in need.
In 1993, while visiting family in Connecticut, Billy met his wife, Cheryl. They lived together in New York City until they both moved back home to Connecticut in 2000. Billy was most recently employed by Shop Rite of Clinton in Security.
In his final days, there was such an outpouring of love and support from neighbors, lifelong friends and relatives. A service was held, September 28th at Swan Funeral Home in Madison.
Billy will be remembered for his no nonsense approach, his big smile and big heart as well as his love for his amazing family and friends. We would like to thank Doctor Elizabeth Meriano, MD. Shawn, Mary and Heidi and Team at Middlesex Westbrook for their care.
