Madison Little League Kicks Off The Season With Annual Opening Day Parade
Everyone loves a parade, and no one celebrates the start of the Little League season better than Madison, Connecticut. On Saturday morning, families cheered on hundreds of uniform clad children carrying signs and brightly colored banners. Be sure to check out our video!
Teams marched from Stop & Shop to Jaycee Auxiliary Field to officially begin the Little League season.
The Shoreline Connection Band led the parade and rocked the crowd while players waved and threw candy to enthusiastic fans on the sidelines.

Countless volunteers thanked
Members of the Daniel Hand baseball, and softball teams participated, as well. At the end of the parade route, players and families flooded Jaycee Field for the Opening Day Ceremony.

Madison Little League President Scott Murphy welcomed the crowd and thanked the countless volunteers who make Madison Little League (MLL) such a great success. Murphy presented the MLL Man of the Year Award to Umpire-in-Chief and Safety Commissioner, Tom Lauher.
The All-Star Service Award was given to Opening Day coordinators Paula Visgilio and Jane Bordiere. Following an amazing performance of the Star Spangled Banner by Daniel Hand student Avery Butler, State Representative Noreen Kokoruda and Sean Connors threw out the first pitches to officially start the season.
Hot dogs, cotton candy, and ice cream on the menu
Following the ceremony, families enjoyed hotdogs, cotton candy and ice cream from “Papa Joe”, and a chance to check out raffle items donated by local businesses Flavor for Madison, Maggie’s Table, Madison Cheese Shop and Given, to name just a few.
Other prizes included a weekend home in Vermont and Red Sox tickets and personally made gift baskets donated by families.
The fun continued for many players with games scheduled throughout the afternoon. All in all, the festivities kicked off a season that’s sure to be exciting. So....let’s play ball!
