Results Of FEMA's Coastal Erosion Hazard Study Presented Tuesday

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will present its finding from a coastal erosion study on New Haven County.

MADISON, CT — Representatives from Region I of the Federal Emergency Management Agency will present the results of its coastal erosion hazard study for New Haven County on Tuesday, according to Madison officials.

The presentation on the 26th is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and will be conducted virtually. Registration is required.

"The study displays flood risks in coastal areas that include future effects of long-term erosion and sea level rise," wrote Madison First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons in a statement. "FEMA has created coastal erosion hazard areas displaying projected hazards for 2030, 2050, and 2100, incorporating projected sea level rise."

FEMA Region I will be sharing results with residents during a virtual meeting that will provide an overview of the study’s methodology and present the non-regulatory coastal erosion data viewer, according to Lyons.

The presentation will include time at the end for community members to ask questions regarding the coastal erosion non-regulatory study.
