Sen. Cohen Hosts Clean-Up At Hammonasset Beach State Park Sunday

The cleanup is set for 1 p.m. Sunday. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Volunteers should meet at the Meig's Point Nature Center.

MADISON, CT — State Sen. Christine Cohen (D-Guilford) will host a community clean-up at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hammonasset Beach State Park. The community is invited to attend.

Working in collaboration with the Friends of Hammonasset, trash bags and gloves will be provided as volunteers roam the beach, dunes and roadways to pick up trash and help preserve the integrity of the park and all its natural resources. Volunteers should meet at the Meig's Point Nature Center.

Hammonasset Beach State Park is located on the shore of Long Island Sound in Madison. It is Connecticut’s largest shoreline park with over two miles of beach, as well as wetlands and woodlands. Visitors come to Hammonasset to walk, bike, kayak, swim, fish, study nature, bird watch, picnic, or just relax. Hammonasset also offers more than 50 grassy campsites and several rustic cabins.
