Documentary 'Tiger Pride' Is Premiered

Local Filmmaker Mike Seib Debuted His Film For Some 500 Former Players And Fans At Daniel Hand High School Friday. Proceeds Benefit Strong Center At The Surf Club.

Daniel Hand alum, Mike Seib, spent the last year and a half putting together a documentary film based on the history of the Daniel Hand Football program.  He started out trying to tell the story of just his team, who were seniors in 2005 and were the only class to win three state championships, but once he started to interview the former players and coaches, he began to realize that the story really needed to be told from the very beginning of the program.

The movie starts back in 1970 when a young Larry Ciotti was hired to be the first head coach and chronicles the rise of the program through interviews with former players interspersed with archived film footage.  The production is high quality, don't think this is a home movie.  It should hold the interest of anyone and not just Hand football players and fans.

Friday night's premiere was held as a fund raising event to benefit the Strong Center at the Surf Club.  Larry Ciotti explained how the project to refurbish Strong Field is progressing.  He announced that their fund raising efforts to date have totaled $1.1 million, but they still have a ways to go. The scope of the project includes installing an artificial turf field, new bleachers, 2 field houses and an entry plaza.  For more detail on the project click here.
