Town Hiring For 2 Jobs In Assessors Office, Both Good-Paying Posts
Assistant Assessor job pays from $32 to $45 an hour and Assessment Technician II job pays $22 to $31 an hour, both for a 35.5 hour week.

MADISON, CT — The town is hiring for two positions, both well-paying.
The first post is for an Assistant Assessor. The hourly pay range is $32 to $45 for a 35.5 hour week.
Located in the Assessor’s Office, the job duties include: perform administrative, technical and field work to assist the Assessor in the valuation of all real estate, personal property and motor vehicles; perform field investigations and inspections in evaluating property; and to collect and process information to assist in the establishment of the Town’s Grand list.

An Associates Degree in business, financial management or closely related field and three years of related experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge. The position requires a Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor I certificate and valid Connecticut Driver’s License. It is expected that a candidate will continue pursing education in order to acquire the CCMA II certification.

The second opening is for an Assessment Technician II. The hourly pay range is $22 to $31 for a 35.5 hour work week.
Also located in the Assessors office, the job duties include, but aren't limited to: perform administrative, technical and field work in assisting the Assessor in the valuation of real, personal property and motor vehicles; performs increasingly responsible field investigations and inspections in evaluating property; and collects and processes information to assist in establishment of the Town's Grand List. Receives and processes information on real estate, personal property and motor vehicles; coordinates record keeping functions. Maintains data in the Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal program and the administrative software program. Performs field inspections of property, including new construction identified through building permits. Assists with the preparation of pricing motor vehicles for the annual Grand List and supplemental Grand List. Processes assessment adjustments as warranted. Prepares, mails and posts forms and notices as required by State Statute. Provides technical assistance to visitors and the public; Assists the public with tax maps and records. Makes copies of maps and records and collects fees. Reviews and processes the State and Local Tax Relief applications for the Elderly and Totally Disabled and Additional Veterans program. Processes tax exemptions. Provides technical support to the Board of Assessment Appeals. Performs other related functions as assigned or required.

Position requires an ability to obtain a Certified Connecticut Municipal Assessor I certification within two years of hire and a valid Connecticut Driver’s License. It is expected that a candidate will continue pursuing education in order to acquire the CCMA II certification. Working knowledge of Vision Government Solutions and Quality Data System is highly desirable. Work performed shall be in accordance with State Statute where applicable.
