Sibilla suffered severe skull fractures at the scene and was revived by emergency responders. He was taken to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries on June 30.

According to his obituary, Sibilla was born in Hackensack, NJ, and was the son of Peggy Sibilla of West Haven and William J. Sibilla Sr. of Virginia.
