MADISON, CT —This is the last week of summer season at town beaches.

First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons explained that as most of the seasonal staff have left for college, the town cannot "fully staff our beach facilities, including lifeguards."

"Please be mindful when attending our beaches, especially with children, that lifeguards will not be on duty," she said.

Patrol and gate monitors will remain in place through Labor Day, but after the holiday weekend, the town will no longer be staffing gate guards. And, sporting activities will start to ramp up at the Surf Club and other athletic fields around town.

The Salt Meadow Concert Series is holding its last concert for 2022 at Salt Meadow Park on September 2nd at 5 pm. Please visit the Salt Meadow Park webpage for more information.

The Madison Exchange will be sponsoring a Madison Salutes Our Heroes flag display on the Town Green starting on Sept.2 through Sept. 16. Similar to the 2021 flag display, there will be 300 full-sized American flags displayed to fill a large portion of the Green. Flags will be individually dedicated to honor Victims of 9/11, Military, First Responders, Covid Heroes, Canine Heroes, Everyday Heroes, and for Child Abuse Prevention.
