A recent survey conducted by GFK MRI, and analyzed by Jennifer Dube of National Media Research Planning and Placement, an Alexandria-based Republican consulting firm based on consumer data suggests that a person’s drink of choice may directly correlate to his/her political views. Of course, not all drinks are created equal, but overall it suggests that Democrats much prefer clear spirits whilst Republicans prefer those of a more brown hue.
Interesting findings, indeed. Equally as interesting is the entire info graphic compiled by the research firm found below. According to Dube, 14 out of 15 brands were accurate depictions of which way a person would vote – or not.
It was noted that Democrats are more likely to sip Absolut, Grey Goose, Chateau Ste. Michelle Merlot, Columbia Crest, Ravenswood, Francis Coppola and Charles Shaw, or Smoking Loon, Jameson, and Champagne. Republicans were more likely to sip Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Canadian Club and Crown Royal as well as Kendall-Jackson, Franzia, Fish Eye, Bogle, or Robert Mondavi wines. If you see someone drinking Don Julio or Jaegermeister, you can expect they aren’t voting at all. Other findings can be derived from the chart. My original thought was that perhaps it’s based on the price of the product (stereotypes), but given those wine choices, that is not the case.
